Hello, My husband and I are retirees, (pensionaires), we need to get away from cold temperatures. We are looking to stay a month in southern Portugal. Tavira old city or town. What about the Cabanas? How does on get from Cabanas to the old town or Tavira itself.
Hey Lija,
Assuming you are going to the Algarve soon, you can expect temperatures to be between 10 °C and 20 °C. But beware that rainy days are not uncommon even in southern Portugal at this time of the year!
There certainly is a bus to get from Tavira to Cabanas de Tavira. In Portugal, all cities are connected to nearby towns and villages by local buses. I found but can't tell if it's updated or not. Anyway you can keep in mind that it only takes 10 or 15 minutes by bus to reach one place from the other. Alternatively, taxis are quite affordable in Portugal.
Personally i think the region of Lagos has the most beautiful beaches of the Algarve. But Tavira is a good choice since its surrounding area is one of the very few in Algarve that still keeps its traditional side.
Good luck, wish you sunny days in Portugal!!
