2 weeks around Europe?

Hi everyone. I'm planning to travel around Europe for 2 weeks and I'm planning to get in to Europe from Istanbul, Turkey. I will be flying from Japan to Cairo, Egypt and will transit in Istanbul with Turkish Airlines so these are my plans:

Well, 2 weeks is a comfortable amount of time for 3 major European cities, or 2 major plus 2 minor cities. What are you interested in seeing? Is there anything in Europe that you don't want to miss? What do you expect to see in Europe?

Thanks for the feedback! I would like to visit some historical sites like Rome, Greece and maybe Paris and Berlin. Any recommendations for nice European cities for sightseeing?

If you don't have a return flight booked, you can pretty much go anywhere in Europe. However, if you're leaving Europe from Istanbul, I'd suggest that you visit places that are somewhat nearby Turkey. A two week trip between Istanbul and anywhere past Italy/Balkans (UK, Spain, Germany, etc) is impossible unless you take direct flights. I'd suggest visiting Greece (closest) and possibly hopping a ferry to Italy or if you're interested, the Balkans. Those are rather reasonable destinations if you've got restrictions. If not, and you can go anywhere, then just go to the places you want to see the most!

Hi there!
in two weeks I would spend 3 days in Istanbul, then go to amsterdam for 3 more days. Amsterdam to brussels by train or bus, 3 days later finish in Barcelona.
I didn't mention Rome because I've never been but I heard it's worth it. I found Paris too big and cold (when I was there was winter and I got exhausted walking around ) and London too expensive.
Enjoy europe!

Thank you for the valueble feedback. My flight ticket is pretty much fixed for one month period so I'm planning to travel between 24th Feb to 23rd March. Cairo and Istanbul are my fixed destinations so I plan to spend at least a week in Egypt before going to Turkey. I have been thinking to go places near Turkey but since I don't know in future whether i would have the chance to visit Europe again, I would like to spend my 2 weeks visiting as much places as possible but I know Europe is just too big to cover in 2 weeks. I have check some flights and it seems like return flight from Istanbul to Frankfurt is just around 150 Euro and I think that is affordable.

I would like the know whether I would be able to travel by land to Rome and Paris from Germany? Since Germany is almost in the center of Europe, would that be the best place to start journey? Currently, I have Rome, Paris, Berlin and Athens in mind. England looks good too but I think I would go there another time.

Basically, from 5th to 23th March I will be in Turkey and I'm thinking of spending a few days in Istanbul and the rest travelling around Europe.

My personal suggestion would be to use this time to travel around Turkey. March is a good time to go to Turkey, not too hot and not too crowded yet with many sights open. 14 days especially is a good timeframe for combining Istanbul with the west coast, Izmir to Fethiye. Check out www.turkeytravelplanner.com for ideas.

But if you are determined to see Europe:

As you already figured out there are some very cheap flights from Istanbul, especially to Germany. You can look for good deals with www.skyscanner.net.

Since you don't have a lot of time how about you just travel around Germany for a bit? Look for flights to Stuttgart. From there you can easily check out the Black Forest. This area of Germany generally has the best weather in March. You can also travel on to Paris from there.

Thank you very much for the suggestion t_maia.

I didn't managed to get the flight to Turkey and booked flight to Frankfurt, Germany instead. I will be travelling from 23rd Feb to 22nd March, roughly a month. I planned to go around Europe in this timeframe but I have no idea how much it will cost and what are the areas I could cover in a month. Currently, I have Germany, Italy, France and Greece in mind. Do you have any idea how much would it cost for accomodation and and transport within these countries? I'm planning to take the cheapest form of transport and stay at budget hostels.

I have no idea how much it will cost and what are the areas I could cover in a month.

A month would be a good timeframe for
- 1 country and one big city or
- two small countries
- parts of two big countries

Costs: Plan on having at least 65 EUR per day. Travelling in Western Europe is expensive. It is probably the most expensive place to travel in, except maybe Japan (downtown Tokyo) and USA.

Currently, I have Germany, Italy, France and Greece in mind.

Northern Italy and Southern Germany would be doable in a month, if you rush it you could even add Paris. It is not difficult to get to Paris and Rome from Frankfurt.

You could land in Frankfurt, then slowly make your way south to Rome via Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Munich, Salzburg, Venice and Florence.

From Rome you could then catch a budget flight to Paris, spend a few days there and take the train back to Frankfurt.
