18 years old am i too young to travel

i am going to be turning 18 this year and in my last year of college and i was thinking about taking a gap year and go travelling for that year. some of my friends were telling me its better after uni. whats the better option?

Have you thought about both before and after uni, rather than either/or?

Lovely advise! I did just that. My suggestion though is before, during, and after uni

well, I'd say work first. with the global economy not getting too good, the availability of jobs is not that good before. I have tried taking a few months off after graduation and when I got back to start working, it was difficult to remember all or most of the things that I have learned in college...

18 is definitely not too young. I'm with the others. Go before uni, after uni and during uni (semesters abroad, etc.) It may feel like you have a lot of responsibilities already, but this is pretty much the most carefree time of your life, so you should make the most of it!

Not too young at all, I was away for a year when I was 18/19 years old, so go ahead, do it! and I agree with the before, during and after people

Listen, Andre. If you find you have the time, and the inclination, it is always better now than later. There is a world out there to see, and world experience is better the earlier you can get it.

Life has a way of sneaking up on you. Your intentions now may change when you get older. Things can happen that will force you into a new direction. There may be a decision to make one day whether you should travel or take that great job. Travel or stay with that fantastic woman. The road can end up taking a back seat to other things in your life. Responsibility and, if you are not careful, debt can start to build on you. You find that you can't get away. There is always next year!! You're young, after all. So much time.

But, from THIS side of that idea, I can tell you that it goes fast. It won't seem like it, and I didn't believe it either when some old bastard told me, but youth will just blow by. There will always be roads not taken, it's inevitable, but you should try to take as many roads as you can. School will be there for a long time. You have ONE year to be eighteen. I sure would like a do over for my one year....Though I am pretty happy with how 19 turned out, all in all.

My advice is, and will always be, take that year and travel. Meet all those people with that fantastic, wide open 18 year old mind. See and do things with that great, unscratched, unbruised, unhardened 18 year old heart. Avoid, at all costs, messing with your 18 year old liver (that, too, advice from this side of that tunnel through life)

Eighteen, in my opinion, is not only not too young to travel....it is the perfect time to travel.

See you out here.

There is no age limit on travel. If you want to go, go. Study abroad might bring in the best of both worlds, giving you the chance to travel and get some schooling in. Check out "Semester at sea" If you are so inclined. I would recommend that if you are going to the uni, than know what you want to go for.

Happy Travels!

I started traveling before I was 18, so I do not think you are young
