Work in New Zealand

Hi everyone,
I am going to Oz in Feb for 4months then on to New Zealand for a month, I'm hoping I wont have to work whilst im out there, and have only got my tourist visa for Oz, but I am a bit worried that if I run out of money I can't work......does anybody know if you need a working visa for New Zealand too or would I be able to do some work if needed?

You will need a separate working visa for New Zealand. I have heard of people picking up work while just on a tourist visa but it would be tough as many employers would be reluctant to employ you without one. If you do have a visa you should be able to pick up some casual work. Have a look at and for jobs.

I've just applied and been approved for my Visa for New Zealand. I only done it last night. I would get a visa, you wouldn't want a removel order against your name I'm off in June

Thanks for your help! As I am only going for a month I do need a visa yes, or would it count as a holiday? Sorry I get lost on which places I needed visas and which I don't!

Thanks

General rule: If you want to work, you always need a visa allowing that. The easiest one to get would be a working holiday visa, but since those are once in a lifetime, it'd be a shame to get it if you don't need the money that you'd earn from working (and it migth be hard to find work for just a single month on very short notice). You can apply for it online though, so could wait until you're in Australia and then see how you're doing financially.

For visitors from most Western countries, New Zealand doesn't require a visa if you're just visiting as a tourist (e.g. having a holiday, not working) for up to 3 months. (And since you're from the UK, that's even for up to 6 months.)
