Hello
Rules on board Eurostar are very strict, and will be even stricter during the snow season to prevent people like yourself from being able to bend the rules and escape the - much higher - fare of the ski train. There's no way they're gonna let you board the regular Eurostar with a snowboard as non-registered luggage.
You have a choice: either don't register beforehand, and risk your board arriving in Paris 24 hours later than you do, or go down to London earlier to register.
Thanks for your reply. Not what i wanted to hear but useful nonetheless and a fair warning. We are taking the ski train back and would have taken it out on the friday but unfortunetly they didn;t have a train going during the day. If they didn't expect us to take our boards then why would they let us book a train from Ashford to Bourg St maruice albeit it an indirect one?
Your tacit assumption is that Eurostar is a reasonable entity. They're not: only in the game for their own profit
That said, it never harms to call them of course, on the off chance that I'm being overly pessimistic. The luggage dept can be reached at 08705 850 850.
Haha you have a very good point! One thing is for sure, if I do end up risking it and it goes wrong i will do my best to spread it across the whole internet
Anyway, thank you for your advice. I have contacted them on the phone and was told "you'll be fine" by a well meaning but probably not brilliantly informed Esprit person. I have also recieved an e-mail from them directly but they completely missed the whole point of my question. I must remember to be a lot more straightforward for their tiny minds.
