Help me, please!
I am looking for good value-for-money accomodation in Mumbai, prefferably Colaba of Marine Dive, price 20-50/60$ for a double room. All the hotels, incl those recommended by Rough Guide and Lonely Planet, have terrible reviews elswewhere. By terrible I mean dirty, cockroaches, bedbugs.
The good ones - YWCA and Lawrence hotel - are already fully booked (need this for 19-21 February).
Bentley's has terrible reviews.

Bentley's has terrible reviews.I booked Chateaux Windsor in the meantime, but it is a bit over our budget - 100$ a night incl booking fee.
We just need a clean room, central location, fan ceilings and clean bathroom - can be shared. Nothing against hot water and AC, but can live without.

I ended up skipping Bombay for the same reason. And word is no one can find decent cheap accommodation there. Theres a few guys from india on the forum that might have advice, but you might want to move this out of "system talk" and to the correct forum to get a response from them, or maybe the mods will anyway.
Most of the hotels in South Mumbai are either booked or too expensive for ur dates. I found the following two hotels which are available for the dates u selected:
Hotel New Bengal(www.hotelnewbengal.net) is a decent hotel where some of the friends have stayed is available for around 30 USD. It is not exactly in Marine drive area but quite close to it !!
Hotel Supreme is in Colaba(www.hotelsupreme.co.in) and priced around 50-60 USD. Just have a look!!
Bentleys is a budget place and is not as bed as it seems, many of my friends have stayed there a couple of years back.

Yaa true, there is another Bentley in the marine drive area but this is no better than the Bentley of Colaba area. If u want i can speak to the hotel guy to clear any confusion !!
