Which month is the best for seeing Ljubljana?

Hi,

Hi,

I went to Ljubljana last year, and I think it's safe to say that this city would be beautiful no matter which month you go in. You could also take a trip to see Lake Bled from Ljubljana (an easy bus ride from the capital) - it's a very beautiful part of the world.

If you do go, this hostel I stayed in was fantastic! http://www.zeppelinhostel.com/

The people there are really helpful, and it had a real 'bed & breakfast' feel to it. Lovely staff, very clean, great location.

Good luck!

Hi zuesie,

Thank you very much for reply, if you can give me detailed information about your Ljublana trip I ll be appreciated.
I am planning to go there for weekend break but now the weather is very cold.

Thanks

I stayed there for a week in August last year so the weather was very warm. I'd suggest try for 3 days in the Capital but if you only have time for two it is a small place and I'm sure you could manage it all. The staff at that hostel I gave you the link to, are really helpful when it comes to what to see and do around the town, even marking out great restaurants and clubs on a map for you. However, if you chose to stay longer you'd be able to see other parts of Slovenia, like Lake Bled. It is such a beautiful country, the more time you have for it the better!

Ok zuesie,

Thank you very much for information..

I wish nice trips to you..

Hi. I live in Ljubljana. =)

If you are in a hurry I would go in mid May. But May and June are usually the most wet days (15-16). July and August have average wet days (which is around 10-12). August has the most rainstorms. Least wet days are usually in September (8-10) but is 40% chance of being cloudy. Other months are usually too "fogy and cloudy". July is least cloudy month of the year. There is a 20-25% chance of a cloudy Day.

I recommend mid May (if you are in a hurry) or July or September. TOP is definitely JULY. I hope you get some sunny days. But you newer know with today's weather.

LJUBLJANA
City Museum, National Museum, the National Gallery, the Modern Art Gallery. Things too see: Ljubljana Castle, Old town Squares, Boat ride on Ljubljanica river, Tivoli Park, the Botanical Garden, Ljubljana Zoo. Most Nightlife scene in city centre.

SLOVENIA
From Ljubljana you can go to see Lake Bled (1h 20mins by bus. cost around 6€) or Lake Bohinj (2h 0mins. cost 8€) or Triglav National Park (Its 20 kilometers from Bled). This is in same direction NW.

SW direction From LJUBLJANA to Postojna (Caves and Predjama Castle) -> Divača (Skocjan Caves) -> Piran/Portorož (Seaside getaway)
Postojna - 50 km (50min to 1h) 6€ bus
Divača - 80 km (1h20min-40min)
Sežana - 85 km from Ljubljana - village Lipica 15 km away from Divača The Lipica Stud Farm, world's first stud farm to breed Lipizzaner horses.
Piran/Portorož - 135-140 km (2h30mins to 3h) 12 € bus
(Aquarium Portorož)

I would go by train because you can see more country scenary and it usally takes same time as bus (buses make a lot of stops) plus train is cheeper.

-----------
I would go in summer time when you can go kayaking, canoeing and rafting, parachuting, paragliding and ballooning, horse riding.... more concerts, more open museums etc.

More places to see:

Technical Museum of Slovenia (closed 4th December 2009 until 1st March) Bistra which is between Vrhnika and Borovnica. Its 30 kilometers from Ljubljana. Some work and inventions of the physicist Nikola Tesla. Collection of limousines used by President Tito, premier of Yugoslavia. There are more things in museum check for more info:

NE direction
A lot of Thermal Spas / Wellness, Castles
Rogaška Slatina is famous for crystal glass.

2nd largest city in Slovenia is Maribor (135 km): Adrenalin Park, Mariborsko Pohorje (Ski center), Oldest vine in the world, Aquarium-terrarium... more museums, theaters etc.

And there are ton of places museums, castles around Slovenia if you want to know more just ask.

.......................
One more important thing Slovenia qualified to World Cup so there will be nuts around Europe
Screenings of matches at the World Cup Football Championship in South Africa
