Hi Dave, unfortunate place to get stranded! Me and my friends found it fun hiring one of the 4 wheel bikes and cruising around the park on it, they're supposed to be driven on paths only but you can't beat hand brake turns on the grass and riding down big hills. Just be careful to return it in the same condition as you hired it
You can visit the art museums, but as you're not into art you could check out the war memorial which I found quite interesting.
So... I took your advice on the 4 wheel bikes around the lake. Now that was some great fun. That said I never knew you could roll something that big with four wheels.
Just found out I'm stuck here over the weekend as well as they couldn't get the part for my camper. Sigh.
This will be my first and last visit to Canberra as i'm afraid to say that as cities go it really sucks.
You have to go watch the Canberra Raiders at Canberra stadium in Bruce. The first match you could go see would be against Brisbane on a Monday night at 7:00 on the 22nd of march. Otherwise there is a Sunday game at 3:0pm on the 4th of April against the west tigers. Tickets are not to expensive and it would be a great experience especially if you have never been to a rugby league match before.
