Hi, I believe the ship you're talking about takes you to the Shanghai international cruise terminal, which is located on the bund, a very short distance from the center of the city. So it will actually take you into the city via the river, as most cruise ships do. Anyway, do check with the cruise company, but if it does take you to the port I'm talking about, you should be looking at the hostels in the Hongkou district, and there are many hostels there I believe.
If not then I obviously don't know what I'm talking about :p, anyway, cheers and enjoy the cruise.

I realise that there are several ports and hostels in Shanghai, however, the website for the ferry service is quite basic for English viewing. It does not specify which actual port it docs at. I was simply asking if anyone had done the specific trip that I am doing, (from Kobe to Shanghai), therefore knowing which port I will be at.
From there I will be able to figure out which hostels will be most convenient to look at booking. Thanks for your input anyway!?

I think that might be the only ship that does this regular trip so there you go (but do double check to make sure).
