Hi, im 22 and will be using kiwi experience in nov/dec this year. i have friends that have had experience with both stray and kiwi ex. all of them said kiwi ex was the best, had better guides and more fun/lively atmosphere. suppose it depends what you like. think kiwi ex has some offers on at the moment though
I'm 31 and did the Kiwi Experience earlier this year and had a great time. I did quite a bit of research and it was a tough call as I also read lots of good things about Stray and Magic. But I really enjoyed the Kiwi Experience.
Hi,
New Zealand is one of the safest & easiest countries to travel. So if safety is the reason, do not worry at all, the regular busses are fine as well.
If you prefer the tour busses for meeting people that is of course a different story. Hostels are great too to meet people. I have not been travelling with the tour busses so I cannot review them for you.
And in case you might worry, do not worry about travelling on your own, it is such an easy and easy going country where you will have the possibility to meet people when you want to or to be on your own when you prefer that.
good luck and have a great trip! The southern Island is the most interesting!! (but do the tongariro crossing if you can (is at the northern island).

I've travelled with Stray and Magic and had a great time with both.

Thanks for the responses.
Yes, I would like to meet people to share the experience with and hopefully spend the whole trip with really.
Im kinda stuck now between stray and kiwi experience I think. People are saying good things about both too, so how do i possibly pick between them? It seems k.e are slightly more expensive (im looking at stray everywhere vs full monty)
I have a mate who lives in New Plymouth, i'll be staying there for a few weeks, probably after the tour...so im not sure about maybe just doing the south island with a tour bus, and maybe finding ways around the north myself ???
but im unsure as theres lots of places in the north i want to visit and it might be better to do it with a group of friends i may have formed!
i would be grateful to hear from anyone who has more info or could tell me about their experiences!!
thanks
I felt NZ was one of the safest traveling experiences I’ve ever had. Believe what you hear about NZ being safe. I feel less safe in most of the town I currently live here in the states than I felt in my entire 6 mo experience in NZ. Almost all my time was spent on the south island and self guided adventures, I did a few professional tours. NZ standards are such that no matter which company you go with…the absolute bare minimum standards will far exceed most other companies in any other country.
You will have a blast. NZ is safe. It is one of the most if not the most visitor friendly destinations in the world. You may not want to come back. You may want to stay forever.
Happy Travels.
