The world isn't 'Full' of bad people. There are many fine ones out there too.
I think he wasnt robbed because nightclub securities are usually tigh maybe he forgot it somewhere. By the way barcelona was a safe place back in 90's. We used to sleepover at the park on Diagonal when we got drunk in Port Olympic and lost our way back to hotel.
i went a few years ago and there were quite a few pick pockets so sleeping rough now you'll lost all your money
