Advice on travel location

Hello everyone, I made this thread, and account for that matter, because I need some advice from experienced travelers.
I want to go on a trip, month long, this February. I will be going alone, and I'm a 20 year old girl, so I have some worries about that. I don't want to be somewhere where I will be in danger. I was hoping that someone would have some suggestions about where I would be best off going. Ideally somewhere safe, cheap, and full of archaeological history. (My chosen field which I am in school for right now.) Also, if you have any general advice about traveling, what to bring, what to expect, etc, I'd be more than happy to hear it. I'm looking to learn from your guys' wisdom and experience!
Thanks for any input.

You didnt say which continent you plan to go and it matters.
In most of places Feb ... brrrr... that cold! And only the best season for skiing.
safe, cheap, and full of archaeological history -
I'd say:
no1 is Italy (which isnt cheap!) but pretty safe and full of archaeological history from Rome to everywhere around. Easy & friendly to new traveller. Endless list of "must see".
no 2 probably will b Greece - Athens, and some other land places, but going to islands in Feb is insain and often impossble, and to miss islands... more then pity. A bit cheaper then Italy but not cheap as well.
no 3 Israel. Why not? It's safe if you are not looking for troubles yourself. Great warm weather in February (around +20C) and huge amount of archeology, history, etc, etc, etc. Prices at the level of Greece.
no 3 May be Egypt? Yes, archeology, yes cheap, yes warm weather, but no - its not safe, sure not for single 20yo first-time travel girl.
There are also Crete (Greece) - isnt that cheap and Armenia (countryside) - but hard to think about winter time. Turkey - cheaper then Greece, more Expensive then Egypt, very interesting, but i'm not sure about safety.
Actually, in Europe everywhere u go- u have plenty of history n fun. But when it comes to costs, only East Europe a bit cheaper, but its much less safe then West.
in East Europe you may combine few countries which lies near. Month - it's a lot. Begin from Prague.
Dont know where from you come and how far you want to go, but Feb is great season for Latin America. Inexpensive and so much to see - endless! Safety so-so.
I think you should make your trip cheaper by living in inexpensive B&B or hostels, self-catering and cheap transportation instead of going to "cheap" places, which usually less safe.
Good luck!

I COMPLETELY disagree with the fact everyone labels Egypt as unsafe! I went on my own when i was 22! The people were friendly and the police are very good i stayed in Sharm el sheikh for a week and had no problem! As long as you have a bit of common sense you will have no problem
AND
The pyramids are out of this world but dont stay in Cairo its the filthiest city ive ever been too!!!

Hope this helps!

Leanne (23 year female)
