Airlines. SYD to South America - S.A to Ireland (via London)

Im currently in Sydney, and due to go home(ireland) in Aug. However I want to go home via South America. I was hoping to fly into say Lima and make my own way to Rio and fly form there to London.

Qantas, Aerolineas Argentinas and LAN Chile all fly to South America (Santiago/Buenos Aires) from Sydney via Auckland and they can sometimes have good deals. Flying into Lima will put the price up significantly as I have looked into this route myself; I agree the prices are crazy!

I can only concur that adding any kind of flight into South America is ridiculously expensive. I've come across this a number of times looking at RTW flights, and it's quite insane...

I agree. Flying into south america is so expensive and if you include it in a RTW ticket the price rockets!

As you know by now, the route is very expensive. I believe the cheapest routing would be on Malaysia Airlines - a flight from Sydney to Kuala Lumpur that connects with their service to Buenos Aires via Capetown (the long way around) - comes to a little over $1200. Malaysia is a pretty good airline - 5*.

Hey. Im from Ireland and flying to and from South America soon, and the cheapest airlines that will get u to Ireland from Rio are Air France and Iberia (spanish).

Thanks for the advice guys,

Been checking out Air France & iberia airlines and got quotes for abt 860 euro from London to Rio return.
I already have a ticket for London which i could use via Asia or Jo'burg. So I might fly straight from Syd to London - Rio - back to London - Ireland! Sounds a little crazy but would be the cheapest option!!

Does anyone kno are internal flights in South america cheap??
