Any other girls travelling alone to Oz?

Hi,

Hi im flying to oz in april, all alone, im pretty nervous, but everyone has said how easy it will be to meet people and going on your own you can do wat you like!!!! its an experience, im sure u will be fine

Hey Galwaygirl

Thats so mad, I use Galwaygal for my ebay lol!
Anyway defo don't be worried about travelling on your own, I was when I first came up with the idea but now i'm kinda getting used to it. I'm gona be flying into Perth mid December but thats ages away and I've no doubt you'll have met peeps by then!

Anyway seeing that your a first time poster I would suggest spending time reading these posts as thats what I did to reassure myself and it's only been a few weeks and it's so reassuring!

Sorry I can't be of any major help, was really just posting to say read plenty of these posts as you'll def not be the only one going solo and you may even arrange to meet peeps out there just after you land.

Happy researching!

Hey Galway Girl,
I'm going to Australia in March, going to fly into Perth. Its my second time around in Australia and my second time travelling alone and as most people on here will agree with, travelling alone is much easier than it might sound. You'll meet up with so many new people in all kinds of situations, no worries. I met plenty of other people travelling alone and people who had started their travels with friends/partners and realised they wanted different things and ended up going their separate ways anyway!! Lots of break ups! You honestly won't be alone too long and other travellers are generally totally helpful, just trust your gut instincts. Being alone also makes you more open to so many new opportunities and forces you to be more out going. Doing organised group tours or staying in hostels and just getting involve in everything will get you started.

I have a job organised well north of Perth so won't be staying too long and will prob be gone by the time you arrive but I have no doubt you'll meet plenty of like minded people. It took me a while to find my feet when I travelled last time, but its all a great experience, just enjoy it.

Freemantle in Perth is suppose to be a good spot. Maybe I'll bump into you sometime. Good luck.

Fellow Galway Girl

Im exactly the same and reading these forums helps alot. Ive chatted to a few on this and the feedback is brillant. Im hoping to head off on my own around may/june but will be flying into cairns where im hoping to do fruit picking or something for a couple of months and then ill travel down the coast towards sydney and melbourne where ill have to work again for a couple of months. Im very excited but nervous as hell so cant wait to just book it. Are u all booked?

Do you plan to stay in perth or whats ur plan?

In my opinion if you have confidence you can go anywhere...as you are a girl you should be more cautious..but its not that you cant go anywhere alone

Hey Galway Girl

Hi there Galway,

I stumbled across this post as im in a similar situation.

I am 23, male and I like in the UK. I'd be crazy if I didnt say I was nervous about the whole thing.

I am looking to fly out on the 19th of March 2011, and land on the 20th, I will be there for 3 weeks... again I'm going completely alone, im going to be staying with family friends about 1hr South of Perth in Port Kennedy. But I want to visit everywhere!

Good luck to you, and everyone else going to Oz...

I wish you all the very best!

Charlie

Hi All,

Apologies I haven't been on here in a while.

Miss Bump: Have you arrived in Oz yet? Are you based far from Perth? Yes I heard about Fremantle - heard that a lot of Irish go there.

Aoife1986: Still undecided about going as finding it so difficult to bring myself to book flights as that will be the final decision to go. I would love to meet up with some people that may be going before I go. I am hoping to base myself in Perth if I decide to go. I'd heard of some good agencies so I'm emailing them my CV in advance to see. Fruit picking will be adventurous.

Leona866: I would love to meet up if I am in Perth when you arrive. Do you have all your flights booked? Will you be basing yourself in Perth?

Natalied: Yeah I would love to meet up - you'd never know where our paths may cross.

Best of luck to anyone heading to Oz - hopefully I'll decide to go.
