Travelling to Egypt

SirRogue58 has indicated that this thread is about Egypt

Feb 2012 is a VERY long way away and no one can predict what will happen between now and then.

The FCO has already reduced their travel warning for Egypt to Cairo and surrounding suburbs only and personally I would expect that by the time you travel all will be fine.

Myself and 9 others are travelling all over Egypt this coming April and our travel plans are still on track with no amendments at all - just so you know

Go for it!

Thanks. I've also been keeping an eye on what the FCO have been advising. I’m sure everything will be ok but I’m trying to put my partners mind at ease.

I won’t be booking for a couple of months as we’re off to California and Mexico in 5 weeks, but I have been getting regular emails from tour operators. At the moment Thomson are offering cheaper deals for Egypt & Tunisia.

Anyway, hope you have a great time and look forward to your photos

Just got back from a awesome couple of weeks in Egypt.

No hassles, no drama, no trouble and no people!! Bliss!!

PM me you r number if you want to hear about it!

Cheers, Tania

We're definitely going now.

We booked the wedding for the 30th December and now looking for a Nile cruise followed by a week on the Red Sea. It seems that flight days are Mondays and Wednesdays with the tour operators. So unless we find anything on New Year’s day it may be a 3rd night in the honeymoon suite.

Will post here when we’ve decided who we’re going with and what the package includes.

Thanks for your advice Tania

Well, the plans changed.

The trip to Egypt became a honeymoon and we travelled out on the 1st of January2012.

We didn't have or see any trouble at all in Sharm el Sheik or during the Nile Cruise. In fact it was very quiet.

Well we did get involved in one demonstration but that wasn’t due to the political situation.

Fortunately we were already at Abu Simbel so were able to visit the temples we just couldn't leave for a few hours.

We were told that there were only 10% of the cruises running because people had stayed away.

The sites we visited were not crowded. But I think it would have been too much if 10x the amount of people were visiting.

Over all a fantastic trip

Thanks for those that gave their advice.

So great to hear you had a brilliant trip!

Most travellers who have gone to Egypt on holiday in the past 12 months have really enjoyed a lovely quiet-ish trip without the hordes of other travellers. Bonus!

Advice was a pleasure :-)

Happy travels...
