My apologies - I missed that.
My best friend just came back from there and had an amazing time. She loved taking a tour to the ruins (especially the Tikal ruins), scuba diving in the Blue Hole, the amazing food, and exploring some of their caves. When I go there I want to cave tubing where you float down a river through ancient caves (seeing authentic limestone and crystal formations). There are more than 200 islands right off of Belize that you can get to which would be incredible to go to along with kitesurfing, parasailing, windsurfing etc right there off of Belize.
Also, check out what events will be there when you are there in August. They have many activities and fun entertainment at different times of the year depending when you go.

If you are after some adventure, have a look at Toledo Distric (the Belize deep south). The 'main' town is Punto Gorda, only around 5000 inhabitants that includes Mayan, Garinagu, Creole, Chinese and Menonite cultures among others. From here you can access many remote villages in the Toledo district through the Toledo Ecotourism Association, such as San Jose, a Mayan community, where you can learn about the cacao harvesting process, or Barranco, a Garinagu communitiy right at the end of the road, where you can learn about the rich history of the Garinagu people.
Contact the Toledo Tour Guide Association who can put you in touch with a network of guides specializing in everything from Kayaking to Caving to Wildlief Identification and Medicinal Plants.

Belize town is a bit dingy and depressing as is nearby Orange Walk so most people who go there go to the islands off of the coast.
If you fancy something different you can go inland to Tikal (Guatemala) and explore the historic site there.
Did the cave tubing with kids, teens and grandparents...everyone loved it, although tne caves are pitch black as you float thru them. Enjoy the walk thru the rain forest and be sure to have lunch on the river...we all enjoyed a little cliff jumping as well
