hi my name is jordan im flying into sydney around the 14th of sep my plan is to stay in sydney for for a weekor so whikle i get my bank and all sorted then travel up the east coast just having some fun(drinking)and do some activities really want to see the great barrier reef as im a bit off a fish/ animal lover. im hoping to do some off the fruit picking jobs aswell just to help fund my travels. il be in australia hopefully for a year but towards the end off my trip i want to go to thailand for a month to party the full moon and genarally chill.
Don't leave it too late to book your flight. About now would be good. You will want a stopover of 30 days (visa free) on the way back. You could stopover somewhere on the way out to break up a very long journey.
Don't count on getting a job moneywise. Lots and lots of people go to Australia with the same idea in mind and some are disappointed. Get a work visa.
Hostels, try hostelbookers.
Be aware that if you want to be in Sydney for Christmas and the New Year, that is VERY expensive and even now rooms are being booked up.
Hey, very similar plans to you (not that I've made any ) but I'm heading out towards the end of September then just want to spend my time surfing, scuba diving ect.... And do some fruit picking if I can. I also wanted to head up to thailand towards the end of my trip. Only differance is I won't be out there for a year, more likely 6 or 7 months.
