hi im planning on travelling to Sydney in mid-late October staying until new years then heading over to new Zealand and hopefully (finger crossed) i can earn enough money this summer to add Hawaii or maybe fiji.
For October I would have already booked.
For flights, google:
RTW tickets
Hawaii will add very substantially to your costs. Fiji not so much but still quite expensive to stop there.
It's a long, long flight to Sydney so many take a break half way. Thailand is cheap and you may find that you can stop over there for upto 30 days (visa free) for a break. Some great beaches, shopping, etc, and very cheap.
The Gold Coast area on the way to Brisbane is quite nice.
Stops on the way back must be booked beforehand. If you book a single on the way out so you can decide later about your return trip, that is a VERY expensive way of doing it.
Working in Australia:

But you will need a work visa as opposed to a normal tourist visa. Don't count on making lots of money there as just living there and in NZ is quite expensive.
Sydney over Christmas and the New Year is very expensive because of the big NY celebrations there.
For a single female these places are about the same as anywhere else these days. Act like you would if at home.
hi there
im heading to sydney at the end of octber booked my flight today with STA and i was 850 so your looking in the wrong places! im travelling alone but a few of my friends are in perth so will meet them eventually. As far as travelling on your own a lot of girls do it and most of the hostels are pretty safe i would say stay in a YHA hostel in sydney as they are some of the best.
let me know when you are going and perhaps we could meet?
lauren
hi lauren
yeah i've heard about sta travel and i plan on going into the Cambridge branch next week for a chat about flights, i have clearly found some rip off websites! Then again Hawaii seems to boost the price considerably, so maybe i'll cut it out and stick to Australia and New Zealand.
I had originally planned to have everything sorted by now but a recent death in the family out everything on hold for a while.
How long are you planning to travel for and are you just sticking to Australia? Thanks for the advice on hostels :-)
Alicia
