My husband and I are thinking about doing a motorcycle tour in Italy any recommendations for best time of year, things to see, budget friendly and reputable companies?? We are not sure what part of Italy as of yet. Depends on cost and what there is to see. We have been to Italy before and briefly saw some things in Rome and Florence but we definately want to see more things in Rome and would like to see Venice and the Tuscany Region . There are probably several cities that have great things to see in Italy. I am thinking Spring and Fall would be best for riding and cost. Would appreciate any advise you may have.
You can go on a tour which will be expensive or hire a bike and do it yourself, going specifically where you want to go.

Best time to go is before June or late September onwards. Less crowds and not so hot.
Lots of places to see: Venice, Verona, Milan, Genoa, Pisa, Florence, Sienna, Padua, San Gimignano, Naples, Capri, Pompeii, San Marino, Bologna and of course Rome as well as so many nice little towns. And you can pop across to Sicily.
Accommodation, try hostelbookers which has budget hotels, B&B, guest houses, etc.
Venice you can stay somewhere nearby for two nights and leave your bikes there while you get a ferry to Venice for the day.
Insurance is good. Driving is fast, furious and a bit erratic in Italy.
Thanks for the really great info. It is very helpful
