I think Thailand is a exotic place to be in Christmas it has really exciting carnival and also a a lot of travelers on Christmas vacation come there.
Bangkok or Pattaya for Christmas. Keep in mind that at this time of year hotels are more fully booked so get your hotel nailed down early. Pattaya is a little cheaper than Bangkok. Some hotels tack on a holiday party fee for Christmas and New Years holiday parties. Even if you do not participate you still pay.
If you want more of a religious experience for Christmas I prefer the Philippines. They start putting up their Christmas decorations in October.
