gDr has indicated that this thread is about Adelaide

Hi Graham, I get to Oz June 29th starting in Brisbane. It took me ages to decide where to start but finally booked my flights last month. Most people go for Sydney or Perth but I'm going to travel south when it's summer time in Oz and stick to Queensland during winter. I would imagine Sydney/Melbourne are the best places for work but depends what you want to do and see? James

Hey, I'm thinking about doing the exact same.

I've come across a few different programmes that does this sort of thing, travelling and working.

But, I'm thinking doing it myself will be better.

You got yourself a plan yet?

Hi James, i know how you feel now so many options was thinking of flying to Sydney have read that there is a few jobs there. Flights are slightly cheaper to Adelaide which would help with money while i find a job. Also have read that there is a few vineyards with fruit picking available which is good for the second year visa. I plan to work for a few months then travel few. How long do you plan on going for?

Hi Maria,
I have looked at oz intro and the like but like yourself i was thinking that id rather just do it myself.

I have a few ideas of what i want to do but haven't decided yet. Thinking of staying in a hostel for 2 weeks do a bit of sightseeing and look for a job. once i get a job work a few months then go traveling a few.

Be good if we could plan to meet out there or before we go? always better to know someone i know going on my own is going to be a bit scary ha.

You got any plans yet? or decided what you want to do?

Do you mean programmes like Ozintro?? STA travel do them too, most of them start in Sydney so I'm not doing one. I don't think it will be that difficult to sort out work and meeting people yourself, I'm hoping anyway Personally I'm going to probably do some cheffing work in Brisbane and travel to Cairns, then head down towards Melbourne to get more work but pretty hard to say what's going to happen! Let us know what you decide anyway if you go around the same time. James

Hey Graham, sounds good mate. Wherever you go I'm sure you'll find work, I'm just glad I have that decision out of the way now! Yeah south Australia would be good for vineyards and getting a second year visa but you can get fruit picking jobs in most areas.

Will be there for a year mainly working around Brisbane and Melbourne but who knows what will happen! Plan on going to New Zealand afterwards as well , but let me know what you go for.

Hey,

Yeah I’m thinking more to do it myself like.

What I am thinking is to go and stay in a hostel for a week or so, look for an apartment and then look for a bar job to just keep me going.

Yeah defiantly meet up. like you said its very nerve racking and scary going off traveling on your own. Haha

Thats good to know James was thinking about getting the fruit picking out of the way so i can get my 2nd year visa have read the peak season is from September. Yeah same looking to start in a certain place but could end up going anywhere.

Hey maria i was thinking of doing pretty much the same thing any idea on where you want to fly into?
Do you have Facebook? i have one its a bit abandoned at the moment be good to chat on there il message you it.
