Travelling alone to Amsterdam - Ideas of what to do and mone

Hi,

Hello

The wife and myself often visit Amsterdam, last visit was March this year,we love the relaxed chilled out mood of the place.

Reguarding how much to take, well that depends on what your looking to spend your cash on? Coffee shops are quite expensive these days, your talking 2 euros or more for a small tea/drinking chocolate, even a small bottle of water is 2 euros.

If your going for the herb experience your talking between 10-15 euro for a gram, and remember every coffee shop you enter they now expect you to buy from their "menu" so a tour of coffeee shops can be expensive, not too mention the kebabs/munchcies

We stay at the atrainhotel.nl might not be for you as a young un,you could try the flyingpig downtown (w,ere to old for there now grrrrrrr ) or the globe for a dorm room if its just to get your head down.

Watch them bloody bikes aswell! hahahaha! Serious tho, just check, double check and then think about crossing the road, especially at rush hour, what an experience hahaha.

Respect the locals & ignore the beggers, just keep walking.

Apart from that,enjoy your trip.

Bob.

Amsterdam is an amazing city. If I were you I'd take the Sandeman's Walking tour the first day (great guides, and very interesting!!!). They'll show you the hot-spots, and on the second day you can re-visit some of the museums or any place that you loved. The canal tours are very beautiful and so relaxing - go at night. You have the "I amsterdam" letters, that are nice to see and take pictures of, near Vondelpark - that's a lovely spot too. You also have the Heineken experience, but it's a bit expensive, if you want my opinion. Of course you have the red light district, so you should go and see the girls working! It's very bizarre, but it's very fun to watch (and remember, no pictures there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Try staying at the St Christopher's inn Winston Cafe, it's a great place and it's in the center of the city.
