Are you going to Beijing,China

Hi
I am about to set out on a first one-week long trip to China on 6 June. Will stay in Beijing only, as I will be attending a trade show hopefully establishing good business contacts.
However, apart from business, I am keen on exploring the new country at an individual pace, possibly with the help of a native people, who are knowledgeable enough to make me soak in the local culture and customs.
I am a married male, aged 41 and live in the United Kingdom.
I will appreciate a response from the right person.
Kind regards
Anthony

Plenty to keep you busy in and around Beijing in one week. A good map and you can walk around, or use the underground which runs around the centre of town (easy to use). The Great Wall at Badaling is nearby.

Remember when dealing with most people in Asia, patience is what counts, and a smile, even when they don't deserve it.

Hi, Anthony!
I visited Beijing last summer. I think I can give you a few tips.

The Great Wall is a must. There are two locations. The Great Wall at Badaling is more popular with tourists. Yet it might be quite crowded there.. That's why I decided to visit a wilder and more natural part of the wall at Mutianyu.

Also you should visit The Summer Palace. You could go there first and then to the Great Wall. The tour will take you the whole day but I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself

As for the city centre, you might want to visit Forbidden City but remember that it's open till 4 or 5 pm. Also you could go to Wangfujing street which has a market with various exotic food and lots of different stores and restaurants.

BTW When buying sth at a market NEVER agree on the price the seller tells you. Always bargain!!When Chinese sellers see a European tourist they want to get as much money out of him as possible. You might show him/her that you are not interested in buying their goods and they'll agree on your price. I hope you'll understand what I mean.

Have a great time in Beijing!
