Working Holiday Visa Australia - Now for Malaysians!

I was looking up some info for a travel help request I got and decided to check out the Australian immigrations website. I am not sure I've seen this posted before now, but it seems that Australia and Malaysia have signed a 'reciprocal' deal allowing Malaysians to work and travel in Australia, and vice versa (the single brackets are just because everyone knows the program isn't reciprocal, Australia receives far more working holidayers than head out from Australia).

Aahhh... So it's officially signed now. Nice! The reciprocal working holiday visa with Australia was proposed during Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's visit to Malaysia back in July. Both sides verbally agreed to the plan during that time.

On a side note, there is a pretty strong rumour that the terms of the visa will soon change to allow you to work for much longer than 3 months per employer. Fingers crossed; that would be fantastic!!

Erm...isn't it up to 6 months per employer at the moment?

Also to clarify, the Malaysia (and Bangladesh, and Indonesia) agreements that will be implemented are for the Work & Holiday Visa (subclass 462) as opposed to the Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417).

You're right, it is 6 months per employer! Will edit that first post to avoid confusion!

well, that is great, if only they would increase the age limit from 31 to 45, that would be even better. how i wish there was a WHV for European Union like for 5 years (there are so many countries in the EU to travel in) and also for Japan (heard they have a shortage of man power for their farm work)
