I can't seem to edit the original post, so here's the info I got about Sydney Tourists Park
- Non-Powered Camp Site
- Cost is dependent upon site wanted, for Dec 29 - Jan 2
- Cost for Non-Powered tent site for 1 or 2-Person(s) was $108AUS
Hey webguy,
Im definately into doing this, travelling with a friend and we will be getting to Sydney for round the 22-23rd of December!
Hopefully this isnt to late to sort out a tent (dont think we will be doing much camping in Asia!)
Let me know when you have all the info, and i will book us in at the same place.
One question i have is concerning security whilst camping, will it be possible to leave bags etc whilst out and about?
Superb idea btw, lets get it done!
Mike
[Edit]: Just noticed the cabins they have advertised at that second place, if they arnt fully booked already, that could be a possibility maybe

Good Morning Everyone! I just woke up and I've gotten a few more emails from the campsites in Sydney.
I'll post more info about when I get to work, but just wanted to touch on the Security for bags.. The few I have talked to, they have mentioned they have small lockers which we can store some valuables in. But for the rest of our camping stuff, bags, etc... We can leave them in the tents for the most part. Going into other peoples tent sites and snooping around is a no-no in the un-written law of camping. Plus, there will be a lot of other people around as well, so I feel it should be alright.
I think Mike was thinking of getting a cabin instead, so we may be able to toss some stuff in his place and lock it while we go out. Is that possible Mike? Danielle and Kimii! Awesome to hear you two are aboard! Campsites start out at 2 persons, so if two felt comfortable, you two can go that route, or if you are traveling with friends, you can get a larger site to accommodate. Alternatively, I have 1 spot open as well, but I've only got a 1-man Tent. I don't mind sleeping outside though either, so one of you could use my tent in case you don't find one. Lots of options though and I also believe that most of these parks also rent out tents and sleeping bags as well. I'll look into that and get some info back on here about it.
Lets start posting dates we'll be arriving in Sydney so I can get a better handle on when we should start making our reservations. I'll start to create a tally of the dates peeps are getting in and leaving and hopefully by this weekend we can have a set time and start making the reservations at the same place. So far, most places want a deposit, but the deposit has usually been 1 night stay, so it's very affordable.
I plan on coming in around Dec 26th or so and staying till Jan 2.
Sam I am, awesome man! I was surprised to open the forums and see the sticky! Thanks dude!
Almost forgot, check out the campsites currently posted and let us know which one you'd like to stay at. I'll try to post Google Map links to make it more visible.

Of course, will definately have to look into this, although i do like the idea of camping!
I will be getting into sydney for christmas i believe, round the 22nd so will probably be the first on the camp site.
Was thinking, incase we dont all get pitches together, some form of indentifying mark on our tent - maybe a red ribbon tied around a guide line to indentify everyone as TP members. Unless you can think of anything else? Could also get in touch via facebook?!

Hey Kimiii!
I am travelling with a friend and am planning on staying in the sydney area for a few months afterwards working, with trips out around the rest of the country as and when they can be arranged...really just gonna take it as it comes. Have been looking with Danielle at some long term accomodation there, some of which look really good! What are your plans?
Mike
Good Stuff Mike. Either way, we can find a way to lock stuff up and get it all secured. I have no doubts in that! And camping is so much more of an experience!
As for the Ribbon idea, we are on the same page mate. I was actually going to send an admin a pm and ask if I could get a copy of their logo in vector format so I could create a small sign post to stick at our camp sites to notify people this is the TP group. Plus, when I make the reservations, I am going to notify them that if anyone makes reservations as part of the "TravellersPoint" group, to try and group us together.
I still need to update the original post with the new camping information, just need to get it all prepped and ready.
As a thought, who would need to rent camping gear for this? I think it's only a few bucks extra but their is a deposit I believe, which will get returned once we finish for the time we spend there. Plus, most of them have BBQ's so we can bring a few coolers, grab some steaks, burgers, chicken and anything else to cook up while we're there. I can cook some mean BBQ and Burgers are my specialty!!
Stay tuned for updated campsite info.
Glad everyone is stoked about this, going to be a hell of time!!
