Hi Guys,
Oh wow, that's a really really tight schedule. Will you get much time to see anything at all, or are you going to end up sitting on the bus, passing the sights and that's you "seeing" the sights?
I'm assuming the price is per person? On the surface, it seems reasonable enough. Averaging about €90 per day, it sounds just about right amount of money recommended for comfortable travel in Western Europe. And I supposed there's advantage where you don't have to organise all the nitty gritty details yourself.
Here's how the breakdown works:
Hotel accommodation is not cheap, and can on average works to about €50-€60 per person, so that'll be (a little over) half the cost of the package. It seems like you'll be on the bus most of the time, so there's going to be relatively little admission costs involved. Then of course there's the transportation cost as well. You're going to be on the bus that the company hire.
As for food, usually breakfast comes with the hotel, so the agent will account for 9 dinners based on your itinerary. Working out costs based on averages, dinner could easily be about €30 per person. But remember, dinners organised by the agent would not be with plenty of options like you would if you're eating out yourself.
Paris temperature would be around 6-12 C or thereabout.
I would say the price is reasonable. You'll have difficulty beating that price if you organise everthing yourself, especially if you want hotel rooms that are suitable to a romantic getaway.
What is not reasonable is the initiary. There are way too many places in there. You'll end up spending most of your time on the tour bus.
This means getting up at 6 am to have a shower, eat breakfast and get on the tour bus by 8 am. You'll then drive to your next destination, have lunch there, 30 min to take some pictures and you'll be on the tour bus again.
Sightseeing in a city will consist of the bus driving through the city for 2 hours, the tour guide pointing out the sights, then a quick break for a pee and a cigarette in front of a McDonalds. If you get any free time in a city at all it will be for 1-2 hours max. Not enough time to really set off and explore the city on your own, but long enough to get bored sitting on a bench somewhere.
For this reason I recommend that you do it yourself: Plan to visit Rome, Venice and Paris only. Fly into Rome from Singapore and back to Singapore out of Paris. Take the train from Rome to Venice and fly from Venice to Paris. This will give you much more time to really see the cities.
Plus this is your honeymoon: if you find that you want to spend the day in bed instead of seeing the city - you can when you plan the trip yourself.
Hi lil_lil and t_maia,
Thank you so much for your valuable insights. My hesitation in doing the trip ourselves is i don't have much knowledge on what hotels to book. I was thinking that we might end up spending too much on the accomodations. But I am now leaning on doing it ourselves, i agree with you that we will enjoy it more this way
Check out the section here on TP. You have different categories to choose from depending on your budget. From there, you can work out which one to go for by looking at the information (prices/description/location) and reviews/ratings by people who've stayed there.
It will definitely be more enjoyable for you not to be on the bus at all time, and actually get to spend your time leisurely and properly visit the sights. You can also check the for more information on the different cities you plan to visit.
Of course, you can also pose further questions here and should we be able to help, we will.
