If you really are just looking for something to earn some cash, browse the noticeboards in backpackers hostels. This could find you doing anything from door to door selling to being a kitchenhand however, not really anything in your fields of experience!! For a more serious position try seek.com.au. Good luck
I know a job and this will be a different experience for you..Try fruit picking jobs in Queensland..There are lots of backpackers and travelers there..
Melbourne is big city and u will find good job. best of luck
