Train options South France (Arles) to Milan or Venice?

I have been looking on various websites at train schedules (eurorailways.com; raileurope.com and others) and can't seem to find something that helps me see trains between countries other than between the big cities. When I put Arles to Milan into a "route planner" (trains) website, it sends me from Arles to Paris and then Paris to Milan. Can you direct me to a website that will help me figure this out? I've looked at the Eurail guide PDF but have read that not all trains are included on that listing. I assume that I'll have to go from Arles to a bigger place like Avignon or Marseille but then, can I cross over to Italy (want to go to Milan or Venice or Florence next) Thanks for your help!!

I am not aware of a planner like the one you're looking for, and well, Paris is the hub of transportation in France so train services often travel to/fro the city, connecting it to the others.

One option that you can look at is to travel from Arles to Nice, then Nice to Milan via Ventimiglia. It does involve several train changes, but that's expected when you're travelling along the south to cross into Italy.

Thanks lil_lil....I apreciate your help ! Sounds like we should rethink our route.
