Barcelona and Berlin

We have about 4D3N in each city next month... Any off-beaten track we should explore? Or what are the must-do items, must-go places, must-try dishes?

Hi Daphnemaia,
We were in Barcelona for a few days about 3 weeks ago and of course a must do is the Sagrada Familia, but get there early as lines for the lift tend to get long pretty quick. La Boqueria Market is a good place to people watch and get a bite to eat at a reasonable price (try the Bacalao - salt cod- fritters). The Market is located on La Ramblas at the Liceu subway station. One thing we found was that tapas were a bit more expensive in high tourist locations and found some good deals by just wandering off the beaten path to places that locals would hang out. Word of caution: There are pick-pockets aplenty in Barcelona and we saw at least two cases in as many days. So have fun but travel smart.

Hope this helps,
Safe Travels

Make sure you're in Barcelona on Sunday (I think it's Sunday - double-check) for bullfighting. We were there on the wrong day and missed it.
Also avoid eating in the tourist street (seems obvious, but it can be tempting - the other areas are sooo much better)
