Actually, I loved traveling in group because I met lot of people that I never met before. But now, I’m not interested anymore. I can’t tell you details, but the main problem is only one, I got no freedom. I love to be single traveler and I feel much more comfortable on my vacation, so if you kind a same travel style like me, I have a few tips for you;
I think that your list was very well presented.
I am intending to travel extensively next year on my own.
When travelling, I have always kept a copy of my passport and credit cards separate from my purse/wallet.
The travel points you made regarding Geography/Location, time of day and local culture are good advice.
I had not thought of the cell phone with GPS and even though I am good at map reading I will need to practice using the GPS.

I had an experience at Bangkok airport where a traveller seeing that I was on the same flight and having noted that I did not have much luggage asked me to check-in some luggage for her. I declined!
