I leave for Thailand in exactly one month and fly into Bangkok. I have been following the news everyday hoping for a change in Bangkok's ongoing political unrest. While i am sure Bangkok its not a safe place for tourist at the moment, does anyone have any advice on the rest of Thailand? I am planning to stay for three weeks. Will i be able to travel around Thailand maybe even Laos with all this going on??? Please help i am worried about i might have to change some of my plans! Thanks for any advice!

I doubt the protesters will still be in the streets of BKK one month from now. If they are, it still should not really affect your trip. You can go straight to Pattaya from the airport if you are still concerned. Or pick a hotel/GH that is far from the protest area. Then get on a bus and visit another part of Thailand. The 'red shirts' have not shut down Thailand, just one small area of BKK. It will almost certainly be over by the time you get there. If not, get out of BKK and visit the southern beaches. Or fly up to Chiang Mai. Don't let the 'red shirts' ruin your Thailand holiday.
These protests have been going for over 5 years. There's no reason, IMHO, they would stop any time soon. Neither side seems able to compromise.
The vast majority of Bangkok is as safe as always. But, the affected areas can change overnight. "The rest of Thailand" has its moments, but little that would affect a tourist.
Everywhere outside of Bangkok is unaffected by the protests going on in Bangkok. So, if travelling outside of the capital there is nothing to worry or care about in that regard.
Who knows if there are still going to be protestors on the streets of Bangkok? Perhaps there will, perhaps they won't; therefore do keep up on the latest news reports.
The red shirts are currently holed up in two areas of Bangkok: Rajaprasong and Lumphini Park. So, certainly avoid these places. And that isn't very hard to do as Bangkok is a big city. At the end of the day, just use your common sense and stay away of potential trouble. Enjoy your Thailand vacation!
This latest is certainly not good news for Thailand. Anyone traveling to BKK in the coming weeks should certainly be aware of what areas to avoid.
It is difficult to know what will happen in Bangkok. There is a possibility that things may get worse.
If you have not already booked your ticket, I suggest going somewhere else. Why take the risk when there are so many other places to visit.
If you have already booked your ticket, see what happens over the next few weeks, and decide what you want to do.

This thing happens at one small spot. I live 1 km from it and work 250 meter away from it. My life still goes on routinely. Unless you are here to do the shopping in those high-end department stores, which are the same as what they have in other big cities, there is no reason to be in that area.
Please stick with your plan. You still can visit other provinces, nice beaches, places with blue sky and sunshine and nice smile on faces all over Thailand.
Only some tourists who are a bit too curious or underestimated the situation in That area got severe lesson from playing with the situation.
Please help promoting normal life in Thailand. Thank you.

If I were you, I would look into air transportation out of Bangkok to Indochina. Check for flights to Vietnam or Cambodia, and if these would be full, I would then consider Kuala Lumpur. Once in KL, it's an easy matter to travel to any destination in SE Asia.
I understand that the conflict in Bangkok has also included tourist areas such as Khao San Road, and I would avoid all of the city. At one time, I thought the rest of Thailand would be safe, but now it looks too dangerous for any safe travel.

Don't go to Thailand.
The situation will get worse before it gets better.
These people have machine guns and hand grinades.
People have been killed already. Many have been injured.
The situation is getting worse.
Bangkok is dangerous.
There have been trouble in some other places. You don't know where it could happen next.
It is not worth the risk.
At the very minimum, expect to have your travel disrupted.
There are so many other nice places to visit.
Some people may have written posts encouraging people to go to Thailand before the situation became as bad as it is.
Some of the people writing posts encouraging people to travel to Thailand make money from travelers. They are putting their own self interest ahead of the best interest of the travelers. They are giving bad advice.
No one knows exactly what will happen in Thailand.
Don't go to Thailand until this is resolved.
You asked advice and mine is this - it would be wise not to go to Thailand. an Australian government website gives advise on travle to different countries. And the advise for Thailand is .
Yes, you could go there and be alright, but on the other hand your luck could run out.
I'd give it a miss and go somewhere else.
