Germany-Tibet Tramping

Hello everyone,
Yes, so I have this reasonably big plan of making it to Tibet without a plane. I would like to start off in Berlin, then make it through Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Russia to China and then to Tibet.
This is the trip, roughly:

I won't knock it one bit. I've done some - shall we say 'Different' trips in the past that have needed a lot of planning, but they've come off OK.
I'm not going to give you a long winded saga of advice - just a few snippets of help to assist you on your way.
Yes - you will need a visa for Russia - and no you cannot get it at the border. They are not the easiest things to obtain and if you tell the authorities at the visa department that you're going to be walking to Tibet - well, oh I don't know quite what they'll say, but it's going to raise a few eyebrows for sure. Again, what the Chinese Consulate people in their visa department would want to ask you - is anyone's guess.
I'm on your side though all the way.
Please let us know how the visa applications go. It could make for some entertaining reading.

Haha, I sure will.
I decided that it would be wisest to get the Visas in this order Tibet/China, Russia. Because if I don't get the Visa for China and Tibet, I don't even need the Russian Visa. I also don't believe that the authorities have to know anything. I just pose to be a regular tourist and I assume things will just go fine. I assume that the usual tourist applicant doesn't mention how he's travelling either, whether by train or car so I don't see why I'd have to tell them that I'm going to walk/hitchhike.

Anyways, I'll let you know about progress. If anyone else has any info for my trip, I'd be glad to hear!

All the best, N.
