Perth/WA at Christmas????

Hi Sarah

Perth over Christmas is great place to be, normally the weather will be on the warmer side of things 30+ degrees Celcius

I would suggest you dont plan to see the northern areas of Australia at that time of the year the weather is unpredicable this far out tropical storms(cyclones) are common and road travel can see you stuck if roads flood as such recommend you dont venture too far north of Brisbane/gold coast area on the east coast.

crossing over to Perth I'd recommend flying over driving because the weather can be a bit extreme at times

I live in Perth and would suggest that you dont want to be here until after the new year suggest Melbourne over Christmas then head to Sydney to see in the New Year they have one fantastic party on the harbour the fireworks are awesome. Perth would be better if its either at the start or finish of your holiday ie October end of the wild flower season and spring festivals or late January/February when Aus day fireworks and the start of the occur.

depending on where your heading home to, leaving from perth via sydney is as little as an extra $20-50 on your airfare compared to $200 for internal flights most companies use qantas or virgin domestic flights for the internal legs anyway

Thanks for the reply!
We land in Perth on Dec 7th so we thought it would easier and cheaper to stay around Perth/WA until after New Year. Then we plan to head North towards Darwin across to cairns and then down the East Coast ending up in sydney. Does this seem practical for a 4 month time scale?
Is there any must see places in WA that would be great to spend Xmas/NY in? We're fairly open to options at this stage and we have 3 weeks from when we land to head to somewhere. We're also gonna be looking for work in that area to? Could you tell me if it's got a lot of farm work available and preferably ranch work??
