Backpacking up the Kenyan coast

In Nairobi don't stay anywhere else except the wonderful . I stayed here first time this year and will never stay anywhere else again in Nbi.

You have a choice of prices and accommodation options - dorms, single rooms, tents, really nice tents, luxury tents, restaurant, bar, friendly owners and staff, people who will give you all the tips and information you need and safety right in the heart of the city.

This is not a commercial advertisement, I'm just enthusiastic about great places like this when I find them.

Hi Katie,

I just arrived from Kenya (I was there almost 2 months volunteering and traveling). Zaksame (Brien) is right Wildebeest Camp is nice. I stayed there 3 nights in a Luxury tends and they are rely comfy but check the weather because nights could be cold! When I was volunteering we stayed in Watatamu which is 25 km from Malindi and more resort area. Locals would leave in Malidi but then travel in Watamu for a work. Malidi is not much of the city and I would not spend more then a day there. Lamu on the other hand is awesome. You can stay in guesthouse Stopover in Shelle. They have one guesthouse (the same name) in Lamu but Shelle is much nicer. The owner name is Hamid and it is very pleasant man. Ask for a room on the second floor because they have much bigger terrace then 1st floor rooms. I and my friend paid around 4500 shillings (app. 45 euros) per day for a room and breakfast.

Oh in Mombasa you can stay at Court Royal Hotel. All places have hot wather and eletricity.
