You mean the Eastern part. Oriental doesn't translate the way you think it does. Neither does poniente.
Ten years ago (and DAMN! time flew!) I did parts of that trip. The Sabana Grande is one of the most amazing sights of my life. I did it exactly in the time you're proposing, too. SO I spent NYE in the middle of the Sabana drinking that Cactus thing they think is rum.

You are right. Gran Sabana is an incredible part of Venezuela. It is not the first time I´ve been to and looking forward to be there again. Hope to share some photos when I am back.
