hey everyone! im on the verge of booking up to go to cairns in august. I have got quotes and everything and if i get flights ive been told il be going out 24th of august. But i just want to know a few bits before i book. is it a good time of year to be starting from cairns and heading down to sydney? and for other people who have been before am i wasting my time going there and just doing the east coast? Obviously theres so much more to see in australia. roughly how much money do you think i would need for about 6 months over there im hoping to have save up about £4000 by time i go and hope to find some work. if anyone else is heading out same sort of time would be great to chat as im not tottally clued up on what im doing yet
Sounds like a good time to do the east coast starting in Cairns, how long will you take between Cairns and Sydney? I think 6 months is too long for just Sydney to Cairns, although you might find some work and stay in one spot for a while. If you can I'd highly recommend going out to Alice Springs and visiting Uluru, Kings Canyon and Kata Tjuta preferably in August or September as it heats up a lot out there from December through to February.

I am flying to Cairns from Singapore July time, and my plans are similar yours, 6 months before moving on and flying from Sydney. After Asia, I am expecting to have around £4000 left over. which I think is a good position to be in, as long as you dont go crazy first month out there youl be fine with £4k. obviously youl be adding to you balance when working anyway.
There is alot to see, and I think were going to go further south to melbourne and possibly adelaide, but unsure yet, but if we are well backtrack towards sydney, which could be something to think about, 6 months does give you a good amount of time.
At the moment were undecided how were going to travel down the coast but it looks like the greyhound, after a few stops were planning to set up camp in Sydney around October time and stick about until New years, as I heard christmas and new years are amazing in Sydney, but you need to get there early ish to get decent work and accomodation. After that who knows.
Maybe well grab a beer somewhere on the eastcoast?

hey deano. cheers for the advice mate. ive allready got my visa. i think il probs heads further round aswell just hard to plan things out as going on my own fuck knows what will happen! is it easy to find work in sydney then? yea you never know mate when in july are you heading out?

im hoping to land in cairns around may and say ill be in brisbane by july, ill prob have to work for abit there and plan to stay travelling down to sydney and melbourne!!
I know what u mean, its hard to plan when u are doing it on ur own but everyone on these forums say ull meet loads along the way
I dont think anywhere in particular will be that easy or hard to find work generally, but Ive heard it gets busier in Sydney leading to christmas, as most travellers want to stay there for christmas and new year.
I have an open flight from singapore so dont have an exact date, but I think its going to be later, like 20th ish but it could all change depending how good Asia is I guess.
I dont think you need to plan to much, you got any ideas where you want to spend christmas?

probably sydney. dont know when i will be arriving there though. im not sure what i want to do yet i want to go over to asia on way back but the compnay im flying with only go from sydney over to there and i also want to go over to west coast. when are when are you going out to asia?

urit lads,my names billy going out to cairnes on the 1st of july and traveling to cape tripulation,cairnes and around,airlybeach/whitesundae islands/fraser island ,brisbane,gold coast down to sydney,melbourne for end of november time for christmas and new years.iv got my visa just need to sort my travel insurance and book my flights.also thinking about going thailand for a month over june if i can get the dollar together.got a few different idears tho. anyone going around similar time let me know what you think or any helpful advise
