wow, that trip is so far away. I am planning to be in europe at that time next year but I will probably leave between April - June and will be staying well beyond September.
If you can't find a travel companion, I wouldn't be too worried. The only time you will be alone is when you are travelling between places. You will meet so many people at hostels, trust me. Just smile and be friendly and people will be friendly back and you will make some good friends.

I'm interested in joining for you August. I have a rough plan of where I want to go...Netherlands (Amsterdam!), Germany (Rhine in Flames Aug.13.2012), and Spain (Barcelona for La Tomatina from Aug 27-31st). Let me know if you are interested! I'd love a travel buddy who wants to stay in hostels, buy groceries, and do Europe relatively cheaply.
I'm female and around your age. I'll be 23 by then (24th birthday is Aug.30). I'm from Toronto, Ontario, Canada and I'll begin my June-Aug Europe Backpacking adventure in the UK and work my way around, going wherever my 3 month EUrail pass will take me.
While I have a vague idea of where I want to go, I'm pretty flexible as long as I see the Rhine in Flames in Germany and I'm in Barcelona by August 27th!

I am planning to arrive into Sofia, then maybe hit some Eastern European countries, then leave from Sofia, for a few weeks in August. I have been to Hungary and Czech Republic, so other countries in that area are what I'm planning to go to.
I'm not sure how far in advance I'll be able to reserve lodging, because my dates may change the last minute... so hopefully I can find lodging.
Anyone have any feedback for scheduling such a trip - my dates may change last minute by a few days...

Its seems pretty interesting here. I am also doing Eurail global pass but just for one month ....Including Tomtina. My traveling places are quit flexible...I think we have quite same route. I am Sweden living at Stockholm.I will start from Copenhagen to Amsterdam to Brussel to paris to Barcelona to Bunol then so on lets see how much I could make it out...
If you guys are interested lets me know ...It would be always nice to be with friends who want to travel cheap and youth hostels are the best...
