Hello, I'm in the process of planning a backpacking trip to Oz for early 2013. At first i had planned to stay in hostels, travelling the well trodden path down the east coast and ending up in Melbourne. However i cant get the idea of doing this same trip by camper van instead out of my head. From what i have researched it seems far to expensive though, looking at 80 dollars per day with ins and that's not including petrol or camping sites. I did notice that all of the camper van renters offer hire at virtually no cost if you drive them from a depot at which they are needed. Often even offering to pay the majority of the petrol as well and offering extra days or miles with the camper at low cost.
Any advice or guidance from anyone who has taken advantage of these offers would be greatly welcomed.
