Going to Philippines in AUG

Hi there!

Cassandra,
Good to see you are off and traveling again! I suggest you take up to Baguio. Buses leave every hour plus you also have a VIP option for faster service (fewer stops). Once in Baguio, I would check on buses up to Vigan. August is peak typhoon season in the P.I. but hopefully one will not be active while you are there. Good luck.

I would really consider the weather in August before you go. As mentioned, it's peak Typhoon season, and Philippines often get slammed hard. I was going to go for Honeymoon last year, but decided against it since the news was filled with flooding, landslides, and typhoons in the Philippines. On the other hand, flights are dirt cheap since no one is going there.

Hi Cassandra,

August is definitely not the best month for travel in the Philippines. Rainy months are from June to September. Weather in the Philippines has recently become unpredictable but months from January to May are the best weather for travel.

And is there access to east malaysia from philippines?

With your planned routes: Manila > Baguio > Vigan, I don’t think travelling from the Philippines to Malaysia is a good idea. The only trip I know from the Philippines to Malaysia (by sea) is from Zamboanga (which is located in Mindanao) to Sandakan, Malaysia. Aleson Lines and SRN Fastcraft boats leave only twice weekly. You may have to consider though that Zamboanga is in Southern Philippines while Baguio and Vigan are in the Northern part so it’s still best to travel by plane. It will not only save you money but time, too.

Good Luck for your travel. Should you have any questions, feel free to ask. I've been a lot in the Philippines and there are lots of friendly people out there...

Hi all, Thank you so much for your advices!

i'm really re-considering going to the north now, how about heading to the south? As such, i heard there are almost no typhoons...

Or... does the weather and typhoons happen/consant through out whole of philippines?

Thanks

And actually, we're planning to visit during september, 10 odds of september instead

if these information helps?

Hello there, I'd love to add on, what if we travel around late Sept-early Oct, will the typhoon still be as bad in the philippines in the month of october ?

And actually, we're planning to visit during september, 10 odds of september instead if these information helps?

Cassandra,
I just searched 'typhoons PI' and . The date was Sept. 27, last year. I e-mail a lady in the PI and it was a very difficult time for her and many on Luzon. Typhoon season is not over until Nov. Mike

You should consider to plan your trip in the Cebu area. Cebu in the central Visayas rarely sees any typhoon activity. There is plenty to see and do around Cebu.

Weather in the Southern Philippines may also be very pleasant from October to December. The South is not usually hit by typhoon but still there is no guarantee. If you’re thinking going to the South, try Boracay and Cebu City. However if you’re in a tight budget, I suggest head straight in exploring Zamboanga City. Try this searching online Zamboanga city things to do so you can see what else to expect when you reach there.
