Suzy,
First of all, you need your VN visa before you arrive at the VN border. SR does not have a VN Consulate. If you use an agent, your passport is going to PP w/o you. Why bother? Take the bus to PP, get your VN visa. Many GHs & businesses will get you a one month VN visa for $30-35. Real price is $25, but it is not worth your time/effort to do it yourself IMO. Compare prices before handing over your passport. Prices vary and fast service costs more. I use Lucky, Lucky Motorcycle on Monivong, but dozens of places will do it for you. Many bus companies make the daily run: PP to HCMC.
Good luck with your planning. Send me a PM if you have questions. Mike
Thanks Mike,
I'm definitely going to get my Visa before leaving the UK, because the trip is still quite far off, but I do like to plan in advance, not like the days of my raucus youth. After some research it's a toss-up between a night bus and a day bus. It would be nice to be able to actually see the journey I think, so day bus is winning.
Apparently the road has got a lot better since the old thread. Here's hoping anyway!
Cheers guys.
Suzy
Suzy,
The road is much better now. However, unless you are very squeezed for time, I would still go down to PP, get your VN visa, couple days sightseeing, then over to HCMC. Good luck.
