I have not hired from Explore More but saw heaps of their vans on the road when I had my campervan trip around NZ. They have real good value vehicles as I spoke to a few people who hired them at the campsites. There only comment was that it was a bit cold during the winter so they we forced to stay at camp sites to use the heater.
The larger motorhomes from the bigger companies have gas heating in them from what I saw when I was researching for my trip.
Enjoy yours holiday Joe, and keep us posted it Explore More were ok as I plan to go to NZ again soon.

Have seen them on the road while travelling New Zealand in a campervan. Seemed alright to us.
For everyone who (will) search opinion regarding this company.
I do not recommend at all this company.
Avoid it if you can, and if it is not too late.
I have booked online, just paying a deposit, as insurance was included (it was written), and no extra charges was required.
At this time, no problem.
But when you want to take the vehicle, problems start : expensive insurance MUST be paid OR extra deposit MUST be paid (it seems it can grows up to 7000 $NZ, depending vehicle, be careful), etc ...
And I insist on PAID. This huge amount is immediatelly taken on your credit card, so be prepared.
Of course, if there is no problem when you will give back the vehicle, the company will give you back this amount (I was in this case), but you will loose lots of money in the operation, due to the conversion in $NZ (higher is the deposit, higher is the lost).
And the company can pump your money with all it is possible, not only on this point.
Read carrefully the conditions you sign the day you will take the vehicle.
All is mateer for extra charges.
Please note also that ExploreMore is just a name. In fact when you requires some explanations you are sent to the THL administration, which means also Maui rentals, Britz rental, Backpackers rental, Kiwi rentals ... for all problems you have, you are directly in relation with THL services, not with ExploreMore services.
I just recommend you to avoid this company.
That's the first time I have so much and expensives problems with a rental company, considering that I have rented vehicles in South America, Africa and Europe. I can not compare the company behaviour with other NZ rental companies, because I have not try them, and maybe all NZ companies use the same way.
The only thing I can add is that it's only my opinion, based on my own experience : This is not cheap at all ! Avoid !
