Have you ever been denied boarding on a flight?

I had an experience, with Qatar airlines.
I was about to check in, and they told me the flight is full, so I cant get on.
I agreed to fly with Thai airlines, 5 hours later.
However, they found room for me on the Qatar flight, when I told them my daughter would be disappointed, that she wont get to visit the playground in Doha airport.
I was once not allowed on a Ryan air flight, because I was supposed to be there 30 mins, before the flight. I was there 20 mins before the flight. I had to pay 30 euros extra to get on the next flight.
The same thing also almost happened, on another occasion with the same airline. They let me on, because I had my baby daughter with me, and pleaded being a harassed parent as my excuse for not being there the 30 mins before the flight.

I cant say that I've ever been denied boarding but I have been asked to move my seat for an old man who wished to stay next to his sons and also was disabled... needless to say I was more than willing to trade with him. I ended up next the engine on a overnight flight, but there are worse things in life.
I hate to point out something fairly obvious here but why would you complain about being denied boarding if you weren’t following the airline's terms? One party sets the terms of service and the other pays the price of the ticket. If you pay for the ticket, you agree to the terms. Being late is no cause for complaining because it is not the airlines fault that you were late. Would you be mad if you were on that plane and the airline accepted a flight delay because one person was late? Surely, you’d be writing about how one person held up your flight if it was the other way around.
I know of a girl on her graduation trip that was denied boarding because the airline people thought that she had had to much to drink even though all her friends told them that she hadn't. She had gone to a bar with her friends but only had one drink. Turns out someone put a sleeping pill in her drink. That's why she looked like she had too much to drink, and they were just going to let her go on her own. Fortunately a friend of hers got off the plane and stayed with her.

I had a horrible nightmare with Qatar Airways recently when I flew Moscow-Kuala Lumpur connecting at Doha, Qatar.
I had no problems boarding the flight from Moscow to Doha and my connecting flight from Doha to KL was confirmed at the Moscow airport itself with boarding pass for the Doha to KL sector issued to me in Moscow.
So boarded the flight and reached Doha at about 8.00 p.m. and my connecting flight to KL was at 11.20 p.m. Immediately after I reached Doha, I had gone to the transfer desk to re-confirm as to whether the boarding pass for the Doha to KL sector issued to me in Moscow was alright to go and I was given the confirmation.
During boarding, when I reached the departure gate, I was requested to go back down to the transfer desk to and the reason given to me was that I needed to change my boarding pass. This was 20 minutes before scheduled take off.
So to the transfer desk I went. Ground crew absolutely ignored me, I was in panic mode cos flight was about to leave (there were about 10 other passengers in the same situation). Tried catching every single ground staff's attention, everyone ignored me even when I was screaming and cursing my lungs out.
So then I had obviously missed my flight. Then, someone finally came to tell us that the flight was overbooked and that we've be bumped off the flight. That was the end, no solution or alternative was given. On hindsight, I gather that we were not attended to by the ground staff until the flight has taken off was a ploy. The idea was not to get us onto the plane!
I was asked to wait around until the come up with alternatives. By the time they gave us alternatives, it was already 3.00 a.m. The ground staff manager was chicken shit to even come out to explain the situation.
So we were taken to a hotel for the night (or whatever that's left or it) until our next flight out. According to the hotel staff (who has an arrangement with Qatar Airways), this happens every single day, they overbook their flights and if there are not enough seats, if you're the "lucky" one, will be denied boarding.
What was disturbing was that I already had my boarding pass in Moscow itself. Other passengers who were also bumped off the flight had confirmed their flights 3 days before.
I know if this happens in the EU, the IATA has directives to say that certain amount of compensation is to be paid by the airline regardless of whether accommodation or the next flight out is arranged.
I've made a complaint to Qatar Airways on denying me boarding but I've never heard a single fly's fart from them...

But it's a shame cos they have really new planes and the prices are cheap. I guess you get what you pay for. But after what I went through I would never ever fly with them again!

Next alternative will be TG. Thai Airways. They are cheap as well if compare to SQ or MH.
Yeah, looks like it happens relgularly with Qatar airlines.
Dont, bother to write complaint letters to airlines.
I have never had any satisfaction as a result of doing that.
I have not bothered to complain, about things like that to airlines, for years.
Just spread the word, about bad service, and let them worry about their reputation, if they want to be a succesful company

The boarding pass u got in Moscow is valid. This should have got u on the plane.
I heard some people angrily complaining, before I go on one of the Qatar flights. Probably about the same problem as u and I had.
most all airelines are overbooked because of the
dont show up people.
that means you with the cheapest seat will be kicket out when the people who booked and paid a lot more than you will get priority.
