the 1 thing you left behind?

just wondering whats the 1 thing thats you either left behind or wished you had taken with you, just so i can get an idea of what not to forget to take with me.

A cheese slicer. None of the hostels I stayed in ever had these, so I had to either buy pre-sliced cheese at supermarkets (yuck - tasted like the wrapping plastic), cut off big humps with a regular knife, or do without.
Half a year into my trip my parents came travel along for a few weeks, and they brought one with them, so from then on I could just buy cheese by the pound and save myself oodles of money. (Even with the two times I had brand new pounds of cheese stolen from the fridge. Only food of mine which ever was stolen, too...)

Also, if you use sugar in your tea or coffee (I don't luckily), a handful of teaspoons. Hostels are always out of these (because people steal them because they forgot their own), so having your own would be a great goodness.

Dive Boots.

On my last trip to Sharm el Shiekh i forgot my dive boots, and i only had open healed fins. No dive shop in sharm sold boots in womens size 3(UK)
First 2 days i used trainers, then I found a pair of kids neoprene beach shoes. Worked well, but in future I will never forget my dive boots.

dive boots thats a bit random, not your usual travelling gear

I dive wherever I go. The only holiday where I havent dived in the past 3 years was sailing the Prince William from Hull to Portsmouth in December. (far too cold)

My dive kit is usually standard

well i'll take it that you like your diving i've been a few times when i went to lazorate and kos. i really enjoyed it but the instructors didnt tell me much before we went diving, good job my dad and uncle went on a course and told me all about it, lol, and im glad i listened

me too! DSCUBA diving has one of the highest fatality rates for a recreational sport. ppl just dont realise how dangerous it actually is, and how easy and quickly something can go wrong. And when ya get operators who are more interested in taking your money then keeping you safe, grrr, it makes me mad

anybody else forget that 1 important thing, just curious so i dont forget anything like it.

It always seems to me that the one thing i "decide" that i wont need will be the one thing i end up missing on the trip....

an umbrella is one thing i keep forgetting ( actually i think its intentional forgetfullness cos i think I look uncool with one ) , but it helps both during monsoons and when u are going to a very hot place (lots of places in india!)

A towel. I managed to find one a couple of days after I landed, but had to get dressed wet until then.
