travelling from Madrid to Barcelona....

aimz has indicated that this thread is about Spain

Hi...

There are trains available.. takes about 5 hours, go to www.renfe.com renfe is the train network throughout spain

Book it now and probably the cheapest and quickest way will be by plane, through www.iberia.es, or www.air-europa.com, or www.vueling.com, www.spanair.com, and probably some others. It takes an hour. Connecting trains and buses to Barcelona takes anything from 5 to 10 hours, plus going from the airport to the train station takes a while too. Good trip

Plane is definitely the quickest way of linking both cities. There are always several offers through the internet booking with IBERIA (www.iberia.es), AIR EUROPA (www.air-europa.com) and SPANAIR (www.spanair.com), the three major air companies operating in Spain.

This is what we call here "puente aéreo" (air bridge), and the three of them operate it, so check all their sites. If not try www.edreams.es or www.opodo.es.

I wouldn't recommend you the bus, it is by far the worst option (quality-time-money). And the train, you can go to Lleida on the AVE (high speed train) and take a regional train to Barcelona, but I guess you don't want to change trains. www.renfe.es. Anyway, those are the options. HOpe it helps and you find a great deal!!!!

I have taken the Iberia Madrid-Barcelona "shuttle" on many occasions. It is a 50 minute flight and very civilized even if it is a full flight. The efficiency of the flight attendants to serve so many passengers a modest yet tasty snack and a beverage in a short period of time is commendable. Amo Iberia.

In case you don´t find a cheap flight, bus from Madrid to Barcelona is the cheapest way, 25€, 7 hours, bus every hour during the day; there is a direct bus from T4 in Madrid, 204, to the Avenida de America bus station, 20 minutes, 1€, where you take the www.alsa.es bus to Barcelona

I am planning am visit in the first weekend of July.

Can anyone tell me how do we get this 25 euro bus...? Do we need to make any reservations for it?
Also, I searched a lot on net but couldn't get one such.....so just to make sure can anyone give me some links where I can find information about it...
Thanks,
Aditya

the 25 Eurobus is not a good option, the buses are old, in bad shape and if you don't speak spanish you're screwed. My brother got trapped inside of the luggage room. Anyway, you can buy it in advance in www.alsa.es or in www.linebus.com
Keep in mind that there are 2 bus stations in Barcelona (Sans and Nord), the first one the bus stops at is Sans, which is the train station too; the final destination is Nord. Both are well connected, but you need to know the exact station when you put your luggage in place, because they open diferent compartments.

It is 24 plus a 1 euro insurance, you just print our receipt and that's your ticket. To get to the bus station, there is a bus that takes you from the airport.

You can find very good air fares in ryanair.com and book the flight from Madrid to Girona.and then take a bus from Girona to Barcelona (about 40 minutes) or take the AVE (hi speed train), for which you can get 60%discount if you buy it ahead of time on the web. www.renfe.es/ave

Thank you. This information was very useful. I found that bus is the cheapest option.
On the http://www.alsa.es I found that there are bus stations in Madrid as well which are INTERCAM AV.AMERICA and EST.SUR...
Which one to choose from? which has a better connectivity at night (say at 11:00pm)?

Also, which of the two stations in Barcelona is closer to the city?
Thanks in advance!

it is easier to get to Av AMERICA, there is a public transportation bus that you can take in the airport and leaves you right at the station, it costs 1 euro.

You also need to know that in the night there are plenty of buses doing that route, so have in hand the exact time of departure and the number of the bus.

In Barcelona, both stations are inside the city and well connected, it depends on where you are going. Check the closest metro station for your destination in here

http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/maps/barcelona-metro-map.html

The Nord station is in the middle of the red line (L!) in the station Arc de Triomf.

The Sants station is where the L5 and L3 cross paths, in the station Sants Estacio

The bus is second class,so try to bring a blanket and a pillow. It makes some stops in diners, so don't worry about the food.

Enjoy the city!
