Hi,
I found 3 days of trudging around Angkor was enough. Yes, Angkor is impressive, but I think you will have seen enough old rocks in 3 days. I would see something in BKK or make day trips. You can day trip , or perhaps . Good luck with your planning.

As vegasmike has suggested "I found 3 days of 'trudging' around Angkor was enough"(poor guy isn't getting any younger you know LOL) but I have to agree. As much as I have a keen interest in ancient/old civilisations, 3 days was more than enough for me to see all my preferred sites. The heat is debilitating so make sure you take water. I would certainly recommend hightailing it back to BKK and utilising 3 days there (1/2 / 1day trips, shopping! etc).
You don't say whether you have a booked tour of Angkor Wat. If not, I would recommend engaging the services of a tuk tuk driver (I got my driver through google) if you have read up on the various sites, as he will pick you up from your accom., drive you out there (10-15mins) and he waits outside each site. You can hire a guide (who is allowed on each site) to give you the historical background. You can also travel via aircon car (again google for recommendations and contact details) though of course this costs more than a tuk tuk. I found the tuk tuk which seats two(with the breeze flowing through my hair cool enough for me). Of course personal choice dictates. As far as I'm concerned, at the end of the day, you will be visiting one of the wonders of the world. Enjoy.
Hi Mike, Stoneman - thank you both for the replies - helpful advice!!
