That way, neither of you will be working illegally and you can also stay in the country for the year legally, although the WHV is not meant for full time employment for most of the one-year you're there. In fact, the WHV limits one's employment with a particular employer to 6 months.
A friend of mine who is a nurse registered herself with a temp agency when she was in Oz and she worked by temping. This way it gave her time to be off whenever she wanted to (just informed the agency when you're not available) and therefore plenty of travel flexibility. I don't know much on details though, but she did move between different cities in Oz every few months.
