I really wouldn't really worry about it as I have met several people with DUI convictions who are traveling here including a bloke from England.

He he...it's the other way round now - in order to get a spouse visa (I'm married to an Australian, but from the UK) I had to get a police check from the British police to show I was of good character!
I think you should be ok. If you had not stated it on your application I think you would have been sent home on arrival, I think they enjoy that, but I would not stress. I am working with an Irish girl whos flatmate got in despite having a drug conviction or two.
just got an email today and they have granted me the visa. over the moon now. cheers for your msgs guys.
