Errm, wifi availability where you are and at other places are pretty much the same. They're usually not free unless you log on to unsecured network, or there are businesses offering their patrons free wifi (such as Starbucks), or there are local initiatives offering free wifi network.
The use of internet is also pretty universal, that you can do your usual searches in your preferred language. One doesn't have to go to Japan to access Google in Japanese so similarly when you're there, you can still get Google in English.
Hiyas, plenty of places such as cafes & hotel accommodation offer free WiFi access. Hotel's I've stayed at simply give you a key to access their WiFi. Alternatively, you can buy a local SIM card either for your phone or portable modem to access the net. Recently, I travelled through Bangladesh & bought a SIM with 1 months internet access for $10. Perhaps the owners of this site can include a section of free public WiFi hotspots listed in their Travel Guides?
Joffre, there is a sub-section for "Internet" under the heading of "Keep Connected" in the travel guides and while I can't speak for others, any knowledge that I have of free wi-fi hotspots, I've always included them in that section of the article.
okay,sounds good to me. You can check your computers default language in control panel and which ever country your in should adjust to your settings. Thanks for your input guys!
Your personal computer language settings will NOT change depending on the country you go to. Just that, say, if you try to use Google, it will/may try to redirect the URL to that of the country default (e.g. I'm currently in Ireland, and when I type in google.com it'll automatically redirect to google.ie). You can however, specify your Google setting to have their pages displayed in English.
