Hi,
Kate,
Assuming that you'll be around Delhi there are a few options that you have.
1) Agra, Haridwar and Benares
Go to see the Taj and the forts in Agra for a couple of days. There are regular trains and buses plying between Delhi and Agra. Or you can hire a cab to Agra.
You should then move to Haridwar, along the Ganges. This is a busy and buzzy town famous for the temples, religious rites and yoga. You can also make a visit to Rishikesh which is a calm and serene town located in the foothills of the Himalayas.
From Haridwar, you should travel to Benares which is also located along the Ganges. Benares is one of the more spiritual places in India and the setting is perfect to rediscover and rejuvenate yourself.
Head back to Delhi and onwards.
2) Agra, Gwalior & Jhansi and Khajuraho
Go to see the Taj and the forts in Agra for a couple of days.
Go on to Gwalior & Jhansi to visit the Fortress towns.
Travel to Khajuraho to see the famous Khajuraho temples.
Head back to Delhi and onwards.
3) Agra and Corbett National Park
Go to see the Taj and the forts in Agra for a couple of days.
Travel to Corbett National Park to enjoy a wild safari, who knows you might be lucky enough to spot the elusive Big Cat.
4) Goa
Fly out to Goa and enjoy the lovely beaches. (I'll be there between 8th and 10th Feb).
And if you have free time in Delhi, beer's on me.
Happy traveling,
Apurva
