Reasonable accommodation in Cape Town - boarding houses?

Hi,

I have stayed at the Ashanti Lodge in March2009 and it was cheap, friendly and good location.
A friend that worked at the capetown backpackers also recomends.

Howzit,

Best backpackers in Cape Town are and the . Both are within easy walking distance of Long Street (restaurants and bars) and a short drive to any of the major locations (Waterfront, Table Mountain, Simons Town, Cape Peninsula etc). The Backpackers is pricier but is very well located and boasts a very good activity centre where you can book literally anything under the sun, they offer private en suite rooms for R400 p/p/s. The Cape Town Backpackers is R400 for a private en suite room, rooms are just as good as above but it is not as well located.

Another suggestions is to look into the which offers very affordable travel options up and down the coast.

If you need any further information, just give me a shout!

Cheers
Ian

Thanks for all the suggestions, I really appreciate it! However, I am not going to be touring CT but rather looking to settle there (I am a southern African) and so would prefer suggestions for places that charge weekly rates as I may well need a place for a month or so before I can find and move into a permanent rented flat/accommodation, and so would rather not be paying a premium (a daily rate). Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Thanks
